Activated charcoal or carbon, has been used for thousands of years in a variety of different ways.
Most commonly it is used in beauty cosmetic products due to its fantastic absorption properties. 
In skin care products activated charcoal can draw bacteria, poisons, dirt, chemicals and other particles to the skins surface, before being absorbed by the carbon, helping you achieve a flawless complexion and/or fight acne.
 
Due to its highly absorbing properties it makes a fantastic cleansing facial mask when combined with water. It can quite literally pull dirt and grease out of your pores making them less visible. To use as a face mask, simply combine a teaspoon of activated charcoal with a few drops of water and mix to form a paste. Apply the paste directly to your face and leave on for 20-30 minutes. 
Thoroughly rinse off in the shower or bath to prevent any mess.
 
Other uses include:
Can be used to help soothe mild acne, bug bites and stings and also apparently whiten teeth according to some online resources.
 
Can also be used as an ingredient in the manufacture of other cosmetic products such as bath bombs and soaps.
 
Warning:
Do not use daily, since it can absorb natural healthy oils and dry out your skin. Use a maximum of twice a week. 
 
Activated charcoal is highly messy, so avoid contact with any surface. We recommend washing off in the shower or bath.
 
If you do come into contact, do not worry, it is easy to clean up with a wet cloth. 
For external use only, do not ingest.
